Staying In is a song that sensitively paints a portrait of slowly losing touch with your past experiences as time goes on and the natural instinct of trying to cling to what’s familiar. The lyrics weave naturally between abstract imagery of fading memories and direct, raw lines which cut straight to the bone. A wordless chorus of screeching guitars fully unleashes the melancholy and tension which the verses build up to. Staying In was slowly written and developed over the spring of 2022 as the harsh Swedish winter was letting up, and in this sense the song has an intense connection to the seasons of the year. The cold comfort of winter leaping straight into eye-burning blue skies of spring, in some ways, set the scene for this indie-rock lament.
